The hope of the Sierra Leone football federation to secure a favor from the Confederation of African Football( CAF) to have their home game in the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier seem to have finally been dashed as their stadium is damaged again.
Sierra Leone will host Nigeria’s Super Eagle in their final home game in June a game they must win if they want to qualify for the biennial competition.
CAF has moved the game from the Sierra Leone capital Freetown to Liberia after they failed to secure approval for their newly built stadium ” Southern Aren”.
The football federation is already in discussion with CAF to have them reverse their earlier decision only for the stadium to be damaged by the irate fans last weekend after a game.
The federation is yet to state the development but is looking likely that they hope to host the game at home is gone.
