UK Based Nigerian football Administrator David Doherty has taken to his social media page to blast the head coach of Nigeria U23 coach Salisu Yusuf for his failure to do background check before inviting players to the U23 camp preparing for the U23 AFCON qualifier against Guinea in Abuja
The former Nigeria U20 player who also contested for the NFF presidency seat in 2022 wrote “and This coach is not even making basic checks on the players he called up for the U23 side.
A basic check of David Boluwaji Sholumade’s records with the NFF will show that he played league football in the NNL ten years ago and cannot be U23.
A simple check of League records will show that Ahmed Jimoh who plays for Kwara United also played for, Gombe United (2021/22), Wikki Tourists (2019), Kwara United (2015) and started with Ilan FC in 2012 (11 years ago).
Simple, simple checks of NFF records, will halt any problem
How will he check when the system itself encourages it.
I just dont know how NFF handpicked coaches for national team?
Yet the same man might end up as Super Eagles coach at some point ..
Omo we don enter one chance”
It will be recalled that 16 players were recently sent packing from the team’s camp in Abuja due to an age discrepancy in what could be a big problem to the team’s preparation for the all important final phase of the U23 AFCON qualifier
