Serbian maestro and world number five, Novak Djokovic dispatched Andrey Rublev in straight sets by defeating the Russian 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.
Novak Djokovic has won Australia Open a record 9 times and will be gunning for a shot at the 10th but he will first have to play against 35th-ranked Tommy Paul on Friday in the semifinals.
Djokovic who was in blistering form against the Russian on a breezy Melbourne night will be extra motivated for his semifinal match-up against Tommy Paul because he has never lost at this stage of the competition.
The other semifinal pairing for the men will see Karen Khachanov and Stefanos Tsitsipas face off for a place at this year’s final.
