According to the general secretary of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), Mr. Remi Aboderin, The National super-featherweight Champion, Sikiru “Omo Iya Eleja” Shogbesan has paid the #30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira Only) fine offered to him by the board for damages of Chairs and tables during the fracas instigated by his Die Hard Fans after a fight against Oluwaseun Wahab on March 5 at the National Stadium in Lagos.
He has also written an apology letter to the board to lift the six-month ban imposed on him: “Am happy to inform the world that Sikiru Sogbesan has paid the #30,000 for damages and he’s equally writing a letter of apology. Based on his remorse and compliance with the Board’s ruling, his issue will be revisited and appropriate measures will be communicated to the boxing world”.
It will be recalled that Wahab won by TKO in round 11, after doctor forced the ref to end the bout due to excessive blood from Shogbesan cut, which he sustained in round 7
