Famous boxing promoter Bob Arum has hinted that WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) is in line to fight Anthony Joshua’s ex-rival Andy Ruiz Jr. in UK in summer after the collapse of Oleksandr Usyk’s bout.
Fury and Usyk were set to fight with a 70/30 split in Fury’s favour. Usyk seemingly backed out of the fight opening the door for Andy Ruiz Jr. to step in.
Fury & Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) had been in negotiations for a fight on April 29th, but according to Bob Arum, the Saudis were unable to stage the fight in their country because the stadium that they want to host the contest wouldn’t b ready until November or December.
Speaking to Cornerman Boxing about Fury’s next opponent, Bob Arum said: ‘He’s [Fury] been in Italy on vacation with his family.
He’s back in England, and we’re talking to him, and we’re looking for the best available guy for him to fight this summer in the UK.’
The Top Rank promoter went on to say: ‘Maybe it’ll be Andy Ruiz [who faces Fury] or somebody like that.’
Ruiz, 33, has won his last two fights against Luis Ortiz and Chris Arreola since losing his IBF, WBA & WBO titles in a rematch with Anthony Joshua in December 2019.
