The chairman of the newly crowned WAFU B Women’s CAF Champions League champion Ampem Darkoa Nana Opoku has disclosed that they drew inspiration from the Black Stars to beat Delta Queens.
Darkoa surprisingly defeated Nigeria’s champions Delta Queens in the final of the Champions League playoff at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Edo State.
Opoku admitted that it is not easy to beat a Nigerian team in Nigeria but said the victory of the Black Stars over the Super Eagles in the 2022 World Cup playoffs inspired them.
“It’s not easy winning against Nigeria in their home country, but we have done it, and the Black Stars too did it for the World Cup Qualification”, he said.
The Ghanaian champions will represent the region in the upcoming Champions League in Ivory Coast in November.
