Antonio Conte is not accepting Tottenham’s loss to Aston Villa as a norm, lamenting the club’s lack of investment in quality players as a significant fact for their struggles in recent times.
In the last ten games, Tottenham have conceded first and had to come back to earn a draw or win, in the last seven games conceding more than two in each one, a situation the Italian blamed on lack of quality.
He ruled out the club’s title chances, calling it crazy for anyone to label Spurs title contenders at any point in the season, as it is not their reality.
The former Inter boss further tells Spurs fans to match their expectations with reality, and this difficult time should be expected as the team is not equipped to compete for more than fifth place.
“I was expecting this moment. Now we have to start to fight. We’re there (fifth), and in this league, you can slip quickly. But this is a process, guys. It would be best if you had time and patience. I understand the fans are disappointed, but if you want the truth, I’ll tell you the truth.” he added.
