Harry Kane’s record-breaking goal was enough for Tottenham Hotspur to condemn visiting Manchester City to their fourth defeat in the league in a pulsating match at the New White Hart Lane Stadium.
Manchester City who could have reduced the lead of Arsenal at the top of table to just 2 points had they won this evening following Arsenal’s loss to Everton yesterday. Harry Kane scored his 200th Premier League goal and 267 in all competitions and he is now behind Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer for most goals scored in the Premier League after putting the ball in the back of the net in the 15th minute. His goal also makes him the player with most goals in the history of Tottenham.
Manchester City on the other hand will rue the chances missed by Riyad Mahrez who saw his shot hit the post just before halftime. Kevin De Bruyne who started the game from the bench for the champions was called into the action during the second half but staunch defending from the hosts prevented any hopes of the visitors getting a goal. Three minutes to full time, Cristian Romero received his second yellow card and was sent off leaving Spurs to finish the game with 10 men. The hosts were able to hold their nerves after 7 minutes of added time to continue Manchester City’s winless run at the New White Hart Lane Stadium.
