Head coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, is hoping for a level playing ground in the team’s match day five fixture against Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
The soft-spoken gaffer, while speaking ahead of the midweek cracker against the Savannah Scorpions, expressed optimism about the chances of his side picking up something positive from the tie, with a level playing ground.
“I believe we have what it takes to get the desired result in Gombe if we have a level playing ground.
“If we have the kind of officiating we have been having during our home matches, I think nothing will stop us from getting a good result.
“Our visitors have enjoyed the best of officiating so far in Ibadan and I sincerely hope we are going to enjoy the same in Gombe,” said the sweat merchant, who described last Sunday’s hard-earned 1-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri as a morale booster for his team.
“Having failed to win in our opening three matches, it was very important for us to do so against El-Kanemi and we are glad to have done exactly that.
“The win will boost our confidence ahead of the match against Gombe United and I’m sure it has really put pressure off the boys. With that feeling, we are going to Gombe, confident of getting a good result”, added Oracle, as he is fondly called.
The experienced tactician showered encomiums on the supporters and fans of the club for staying behind the team during the game against El-Kanemi, stressing that their support encouraged the players to secure the win, even as he asked for more of such from the club’s backers.
