Friday ( 29th of October, 2023) will be a date to remember for the former Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Joseph Akpala as he makes his debut as first-team coach.
Akpala who played for Bendel Insurance before moving abroad spent most of his playing career in Belgium with KV Kortrijk.
The energetic player was appointed as the club’s interim manager a few days ago following the departure of the first team manager.
Despite the achievements, Akpala refused to elaborate on the situation instead he focussed more on the game against Cercle Brugge.
“There just wasn’t time to dwell on it, it happened on Monday and there’s another match on Friday.
Everyone knows what happens in football and has already experienced it.
We now have to look ahead and try to turn this around.
I am willing to learn. I’m still a young coach and I still have time. We know that a new coach is coming and there has already been contact.
So if we need advice, we can ask for it”, he said.
Kortrijk will face Cercle Brugge on Friday in the Jupiler League.
