Gabriel Martinelli was on the scoresheet for the second consecutive game as Arsenal beat Leicester 1-0 at the King Power stadium. The goal was scored in the 46th minute when Leandro Trossard put Martinelli through on goal with a pass which slipped passed the legs of Leicester City’s defender, Harry Soutar.
Martinelli has now scored 10 goals for Arsenal which is his best ever tally for the North London club. He’s one-goal shy of equalling the 11 goals he has scored in the Premier League since he made his debut for the North London club.
The win sends Arsenal 5-point clear of second-place Manchester City who visit Bournemouth in one of the late fixtures this weekend.
With Arsenal’s latest victory over the Foxes, they have equalled a long-standing record. They have now won 5 consecutive games over Leicester, the first time they have achieved such feat in 91 years.
Mike Arteta’s side have also won four consecutive away games against Leicester for the third time in the club’s history, previously doing so in 1913 and 1925
Arsenal’s next Premier League is against Everton at the Emirate stadium on March 1st, a side they lost to not long ago.
