Stephen Curry’s 40-point game couldn’t save the Warriors from another loss.
OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 137-128 GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 33 points and Josh Giddey triple double of 17 points, a “career-high” 17 assists and 11 rebounds (his seventh career triple-double and third this season) for the Oklahoma City Thunder condemned the Golden State Warriors to another defeat as the host won 137-128 at the Paycom Center.
The duo’s performance eclipsed a 40-point game from Stephen Curry, who scored an impressive 10 of 16 3-pointers attempts in the night for the warriors.
Josh Giddey was all over in the 4th quarter as he assisted five of the Thunder’s first seven baskets and scored one other for himself. Shai scored 14 of 24 from the field with the Thunder finishing the game with 53.2% accuracy.
For the Warriors, Klay Thompson scored 23 points, while Jonathan Kuminga added 21 points.
The victory means the Oklahoma City Thunder have now won three consecutive games after losing five straight games post the All-Star break.
Going into this game, The Warriors had won their previous eight games over the Thunder, including twice this season.
LA LAKERS 112-103 MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
Anthony Davis scored 30 points coupled with a “season-high”22 rebounds as the LA Lakers continued their resurgence to get a playoff spot by beating the visiting Memphis Grizzlies.
The trio of Dennis Schroder, Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves all scored 17 points as the Lakers got a successive victory to increase their record to 5-2 since the All-Star break, which also includes a 3-2 since their star forward, LeBron James injured his right foot tendon.
For the Grizzlies, Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 26 points and Tyus Jones added 16 points making it their second loss since Ja Morant’s indefinite suspension following his participation in a live social-media video in which he appeared to be holding a gun.
WASHINGTON WIZARDS 119-117 DETROIT PISTONS
Daniel Gafford stole the show as his putback earned Washington Wizards a win against the host Detroit Pistons as they stumbled to their ninth straight loss.
Bradley Beal led the Wizards scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, while Kristaps Porzingis posted 24 points and 7 rebounds.
For the Pistons, Jaden Ivey posted 26 points and 12 assists, James Wiseman had 21 points, and Marvin Bagley III and Eugene Omoruyi added 15 apiece.
The game which was originally scheduled to be played February 1st was postponed to after the Pistons got stuck in Dallas due to poor weather conditions.
DALLAS MAVERICKS 120-116 UTAH JAZZ
Kyrie Irving scored 33 points (17 in the fourth quarter) as the Dallas Mavericks denied a short-handed Utah Jazz in a home victory.
Luka Doncic added 29 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, and Tim Hardaway tallied 24 points including seven 3-pointers as the Mavericks closed out a six-game homestand with a victory.
For the Jazz, Lauri Markkanen led with 33 points and Talen Horton-Tucker added 21 points making the most of his starting role. Kris Dunn also scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists off the bench for the Utah Jazz.
The loss means the Jazz have now lost four straight games.
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS 117-94 MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
Joel Embiid 39 points, seven rebounds handed the Philadelphia 76ers a blowout win past Minnesota timberwolves in Minneapolis.
Joel was in beast mode as he scored 22 points in the third quarter and was 13-for-22 in the game, including 4-for-4 from 3-point range. He also scored all nine of his free throws.
That was Embiid’s 150th career game with at least 30 points, the third in the franchise history, only behind the legendary duo of Allen Iverson (303) and Charles Barkley (154).
Tyrese Maxey added 27 points for the Sixers, who have now completed a five-game road trip with an impressive 4-1 record.
For the timberwolves, Anthony Edwards scored 32 points as their three-game winning streak ended.
CHARLOTTE HORNETS 112-105 NEW YORK KNICKS
Kelly Oubre Jr scored 27 points including a crucial 3-pointer shot in the final minute as the Charlotte Hornets ended New York Knicks’ nine-game winning streak with a victory on the road.
Terry Rozier also posted 25 points and Gordon Hayward added 23 points for the Hornets.
For the Knicks, RJ Barrett scored 17 of his 27 points in the first half who couldn’t consolidate on their victory on Sunday night at Boston against the Celtics.
Julius Randle struggled in the night scoring just 16 points, with a 5-for-17 shooting from the field.
BROOKLYN NETS 118-96 HOUSTON ROCKETS
Red hot Mikal Bridges continued his streak as third consecutive 30-points game and Spencer Dinwiddie 23 points handed the Brooklyn Nets their 3rd straight victory after beating host Houston.
Bridges finished the game with 30 points and 5 assists, Nic Claxton got a double -double (18 points, 13 rebounds) and a combined 35 points from Joe Harris, Seth Curry and Royce O’Neale off the bench got the job done.
For the Rockets, Jalen Green led the Rockets with 25 points while Alperen Sengun added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Jabari Smith Jr posted with 15 points and eight rebounds but it wasn’t really a good night for him as he lost possession 19 times.
The loss meant Houston Rockets two-game winning streak is over.
MILWAUKEE BUCKS 134-123 ORLANDO MAGIC
Khris Middleton coming back in the starting lineup for the first time since December leads the Bucks past the Orlando Magic
Without Jrue Holiday & Giannis, Middleton posted 24 points and 11 assists, Brook Lopez added 26 points and 7 rebounds, Jevon Carter also scored 24 points, 5 assists for the Bucks.
For the Magic, Cole Anthony scored 23 points and Paolo Banchero added 20 points.
This was the second victory for the Buck over the Magic in a week as the won 134-123 on Tuesday night at the Amway Center.
It was also the Bucks’ third win in four games over seven days, and as a result of the victory, they are three games clear of the Boston Celtics in the loss column for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Milwaukee Bucks now holds the league’s best record at 47-18 and they also tied Boston Celtics and New York Knicks for the most victories on the road this season with 20 wins.
Orlando Magic on the other end dropped to 27-39.
