The Emirates Stadium was the scene of end to end footballing masterclass between Arsenal and visitors Manchester United.
Prior to the kickoff, Arsenal lead at the table was cut short to 2 points after second placed Manchester City defeat Wolverhampton Wanderers after an Erling Haaland hattrick in the early kickoff on Sunday causing the late fixture between visiting Manchester United who are third a mouth-watering encounter.
After the blast of the whistle, the urgency of the Arsenal could not put the ball at the back of the net. It was Marcus Rashfordthat put United ahead after firing a shot past Aaron Ramsdaleagainst the run of play after Arsenal’s Thomas Partey was caught napping. The lead only lasted for six minutes when Eddie Nketiah connected to a cross from Granit Xhaka. The score was level as of halftime but upon resumption from the break, Arsenal continued with blistering intensity and it finally paid off when Bukayo Saka gave the London-side the lead after a well taken shot that beat David De Gea in the 53rdminute. Lisandro Martínez would later draw the game level after throwing himself to a lose ball in the Arsenal box.
The final twist to the game was when Nketiah prodded home on the stroke of 90 minutes to ensure all 3 points remained in London.
Arsenal’s only league defeat so far was when Manchester United defeated them early in the season at the Old Trafford 3-1.
The victory for the Gunners has further strengthened the belief of winning their first premier league trophy since the 2003/04 season.
Arsenal’s next game will be away at struggling Everton on the 4th of February.
