Ahead of the new Nigeria Professional Football League set to kickoff on January 8 2023, GTI Group, in partnership with the Interim Management Committee (IMC), has donated a total sum of two hundred million naira (200,000,000) to the club owners of the Nigeria Professional Football League ahead of the kickoff of the 2022/2023 league season.
Each club will get ten million naira each as the kickoff grant for the new season which will kickoff on the 8th of January 2023.
According to Honorable Gbenga Elegbeleyeb the IMC chairman, he made it know that the collaboration facilitated by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) with the endorsement of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for a rebirth of the Nigeria Premier League in order to gradually address the fundamental challenges facing the development of football leagues in the country over the years.
This will usher in a new era of financial discipline and transparency with proper corporate governance structure consistent with international best practice in sports business. It will be supported by established regulatory framework to ensure this is achieved going forward.
This is also in line with the national sports industry policy recently approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Henceforth, the remuneration of match officials will be given due consideration while the visibility of the league will be consistently enhanced through the various platforms of communication as well as vigorously energizing all components of revenue generation. This will create significant benefits for all stakeholders and contribute to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Products similar to what is obtainable in the various countries with developed football leagues in the world.
The Group Management Director of GTI, Abubakar Lawal, explained further that the Nigeria Premier Fotball league (NPFL) has now been transformed into a unique National sports asset that creates an opportunity for the key stakeholders and the general public to earn good returns on their respective sponsorship and investment in the league through the Nigeria Football Federation Fund (TNFF).
