The second day of the match day 9 of the Nigeria Premier League went down on Sunday and it was a good outing for Akwa United as they returned to winning ways against Remo Stars.
It was Sikiru Alimi who netted the opening goal in the 15th minute before goals from Dare Ojo and Uche Collins put the Promise Keepers in the driving seat going into the half time.
Rilwan Sadiq scored the 3rd goal for Akwa United in the 62nd minute before Anikeme Okon scored the second goal for Remo Stars as the game ended 3-2.
Kareem Ayinde’s 53rd-minute goal ensured that Shooting Stars beat Kano Pillars 1-0 in Ibadan.
In Lagos, Chinedu Ike silenced the home crowd as he put Heartland FC ahead in the 76th minute before Jonathan Alukwu equalized in the 90th minute.
Enyimba International defeated Lobi Stars by a lone goal with the only one from Somari Alalibo in the 88th minute.
John Bassey opened the scoring for Bayelsa United while Opeyemi Olufemi leveled up for Sunshine Stars as the game ended 1-1 in Yenogoa.
In Port Harcourt, Alex Oyowah put Rivers United ahead in the 40th minute from a penalty spot Ifeanyi Anaemena’s own goal increased the tally for the host and it was Anaemena’s penalty goal that made a respectable 2-1 win against Abia Warriors.
Gombe United defeated Niger Tornadoes with a lone strike from Abba Umar in the 13th minute.
