The Nigeria Premier League, NPFL, matchday six begins on Saturday till Sunday across different centres.
The Nigerian league being young has experienced scintillating performances from clubs while some clubs are yet to pick up from their slumbering state.
Meanwhile, some clubs are liting up their chances to the super six since the season started.
Are Gombe insured in Benin?
Having seen what Bendel Insurance did to other clubs, the Savannah Scorpion would hope to insure themselves against the high-flying Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday. Just as the Benin Arsenal walloped Remo Stars last Saturday and stunned El Kanemi Warriors five days after, the visitors definitely know they are in for a serious business.
Both sides haven’t really met in any competitive games in the last decade. Which means, the game is a maiden meeting between both sides. However, Bendel Insurance who are currently in a superfluous form is capable of containing Gombe United’s excesses.
Meanwhile, Gombe United, just as they were last season, are a strong side on the road. Having played two away games, the Savannah Scorpion are yet to face defeat and the test in Benin is another test for the Northerners.
Another south-southern test for Ogunmodede
Having been walloped by Bendel Insurance last Saturday, Daniel Ogunmodede and his boys are ready for another test in the far South against hurt Akwa United, who lost at the cusp of the second half to Kwara United during their midweek encounter.
Although Remo Stars is in the Euphoria of defeating a top gun in the league, Enyimba with Samuel Anakwe’s 17 seconds goal, however, they will need to do more for the Sky Blue Stars to pick any point in Uyo. The visitors have never picked a point on the road to Uyo since their last five meetings.
Akwa United have won four and drawn one in their last five encounters with Remo Stars, eight goals scored and two conceded by the Promise Keepers.
Just as Remo Stars failed to pick their first win in Benin, Ogunmodede and his boys will be hoping to avoid such a nemesis on Sunday.
Will Wikki go deeper?
The Giant Elephant have been floundering since the season started, they are yet to win a game.
Their next game for Wikki Tourists is against resurrecting Enugu Rangers who will hope to continue in the same feat.
Both sides have met 19 times and Rangers has more wins, nine than Wikki Tourist who has won four times with six draws amongst them.
The game is a redemption for the Elephants in Bauchi.
Will the Harmony boys have a peaceful game in Jos?
Having won their first game of the season against Akwa United, Kwara United must continue in the same feat to avoid struggling in the relegation waters. But the next challenge is against Plateau United who are getting themselves back on track.
Kwara United must avoid set pieces from the Peace Boys so as to enjoy a peaceful ride in Jos.
The last time Kwara United defeated Plateau United was during the 2020/2021 season where they won by two goals. Asides from that, their last encounter saw the Afonja Warriors defeated by a lone goal.
