Ahead of the kickoff of the Super 6 playoff, the head coach of Sunshine Stars, Edith Agoye has confirmed that the ‘Akure Gunners’ are going for the NPFL title
Edith Agoye while speaking on a radio program on Fresh Fm in Akure on Friday morning said despite the bookmakers not giving the team any chance at the super six they are well-equipped and will be going for the NPFL title.
“I have to admit the bookmakers don’t rate sunshine star and we accept that, but We want to go for the title, that is the target, we want to be the champion of Nigeria football, if worse comes to worst we take the continental ticket,” he said
Edith Agoye further stated that the team has been well motivated by the State Government through the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and sports development, Hon.Bamidele Ologunloluwa ahead of the super six.
The head coach also made it known that he is willing to continue as the coach of sunshine star when his contract expires at the end of the season if he’s allowed to continue by the management.
According to the draw released on Friday, the Pride of Rivers will face Sunshine Stars in their opening game slated for the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
