Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Lionel Messi has the chance to become the world’s most decorated footballer alongside Barcelona legend, Dani Alves.
The Parisians are on course to become the French champions again this season. They have 84 points on the board from 36 games and lead the second-placed RC Lens by six points.
According to TransferMarkt, Messi has won 41 major trophies for his clubs and country, and can match Alves’ tally of 42 by winning the Ligue 1 this season.
Among the most notable achievements from the Argentine veteran’s career are claiming the FIFA World Cup, four UEFA Champions League titles, 10 La Liga titles, and one Copa America.
On the domestic front, in Neymar’s absence due to injury, Messi and Kylian Mbappe have carried PSG’s attack during the latter part of the season.
The 35-year-old in particular has scored 20 goals and provided 20 assists in 39 matches across competitions this season.
Messi won the Ligue 1 during his first season in France. He looks set to do so again in what could be his last season in the country.
