The Rivers state government splashed the cash on the entire team of Rivers United on Friday just before their friendly match against Bayelsa United.
The cash was the $20,000 the state governor Nyesom Wike promised each player of the team if they get to the group stage of the champions league.
They failed to reach the group stage of the champions league but qualified for the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
The entire visited the government house on Friday afternoon and official announcement of the payment was made by the state commissioner for sports Barr. Chris Green.
The Pride of Rivers will continue their quest in the Confederation Cup in February 2023 as they have been grouped alongside Asec Mimosa ( CIV), Diable Noirs and Motema Pembe ( DR Congo).
