The story of the 19 year old Salma Paralluelo who has just been named the best young player at the just concluded FIFA WWC in Australia and New Zealand is one of those stories that will interest sports lovers considering how she has been able to maintain success both in Football and Athletics.
Salma played all seven games for Spain as they emerged as the world champions for the first time, she scored twice as she played an important role in her country’s success.
Apart from being a successful footballer at the age of 19, Salman was also an outstanding athlete. She was at several times champion of Spain and has the Spanish national record in 400 meters indoors and in 400 meters hurdles.
Salma successfully interspersed between football and athletics. In 2018, she won the Under 17 World Cup with Spain and the following year she won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles at the European Youth Olympic Festival.
With the pandemic, she was forced to train with chairs in her house and the lack of competition affected her. In 2021, she suffered a severe ligament injury while playing football.
Upon recovering and after all that, she made the decision of her life to lean toward soccer. In 2022 she was signed by Barcelona and she won the Under 20 World Cup with Spain emerging as the best player on the team.
Today, at the age of 19, she won the FIFA Women’s World Cup with Spain for the first time and was also named the best Young Player of the Tournament.
