Thomas Tuchel stated he “fell in love with his team” despite their loss to Manchester City on Tuesday.
Bayern Munich was on the wrong end of a 0-3 result in their first-leg UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie.
The result brought an end to the perfect record of the German giants in the competition, in a game in which they game just one big chance compared to City’s four.
Admitting his team was second best on the night, Tuchel expressed his love for his side who dominated possession against the English champions.
Speaking to Prime Video, Tuchel said: “I don’t agree with the result at all.
“We were punished in phases in which we were the better team. We were simply brutally punished today.
“I thought our performance was very good until 2-0.
“I don’t want to talk down the result, saw a very good performance until the 70th minute.
“I think we deserved at least one goal and gave away one or two too many. I think our players were lacking a bit in confidence and form.
“Of course, the result is bitter for us.
“I fell in love with my team a little today, the way they performed. Even if sounds strange, that was a lot of fun.”
Bayern will welcome Pep Guardiola’s side next Wednesday for the second leg at the Allianz Arena.
