The NFF elective congress was held in Benin, Edo state as expected and Contrary to the expectations of the aggrieved PFAN members, Ibrahim Gusau emerged as the 35th president of the NFF for the next four years
Gusau replaces the two-term serving Amaju Pinnick whose tenure had ended on September 20, while the 1st Vice President, Chairman of chairmen and other executive members from six geopolitical zones in the country were elected into the board of the NFF.
Enyimba FC chairman, Felix Anyasi Agwu was voted the first vice president of the Federation, after getting 23 votes, beating Senator Victor Obinna Ogba who had just 8 votes.
The new board members from the six geopolitical zones include Yusuf Ahmed Fresh who polled 37 votes from the 41 votes cast, to emerge as the Chairman of Chairmen unopposed.
Alhaji Babagana Kalli, was elected For the North East with a total vote of 23vote, leaving the pair of Barrister Sajo Mohammed and Timothy Henman to go for a rerun however Henman took the second NFF board slot for North-East with 32 votes to Mohammed’s 9 vote.
Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa won the North-West NFF board slot, with 41 vote,Meanwhile the election on the board of the NFF for the South-East was suspended due to the inconsistency in the electoral statutes.
Representative of the North-Central on the NFF board is Rt Hon. Margaret Icheen who got 22 votes as against Mohammed Alkali who got 19.
Rt. Hon. Essien Udofor and Aisha Falode took the South-South slot on the board while Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi and Sunday Dele-Ajayi took the South-West slot.
