The Nigeria Referees Association shall henceforth be known as the Nigeria Football Referees Association, this was a resolution made at the Annual General Meeting of the association held on the 27th of June, 2024 at Perdis Hotel, Akenfa, Bayelsa State
In a communique issued at the AGM of the association, the congress approved the change of the name of the association sequel to the registration of the association’s name with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
Other decisions made at the AGM include appreciating the President of the Nigeria Football Federation and the entire NFF Board for their support since the beginning of the Gusau-led Administration and for ensuring that Referees are no longer paying for the fitness tests and seminars. The Congress however appeal to the NFF President to extend this gesture to the Referee Assessors.
The 2024 Annual General Meeting also appreciates the NFF President for living up to his promise of ensuring that Referees who officiated in the various National Leagues in the just-ended season are not owed, the congress however appealed to the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau to ensure that the backlog of indemnity owed the Referees in the previous NNL and NPFL seasons are paid.
