Action commenced on day one of the Nigeria Women’s Football League Playoffs and it was a good day for Edo Queens.
The game started on Saturday with an opening game between Confluence Queens and Edo Queens.
Emmem Essien put Edo Queens ahead in the 13th minute before Merit Offor equalized in the 21st minute.
Two quick-fire goals from Goodness Osigwe and Chioma Moses in the 33rd and 34th minutes made it 4-1 for the Edo side while Osigwe wrapped up the game with the 5th goal in the 60th minute.
Nasarawa Amazons and Heartland Queens settled for a goalless draw despite the game being an end-to-end game.
In the final game of the day, Rita Peter’s 81st-minute strike earned Rivers Angels a valuable draw after Fehintola Mabokanje had put Bayelsa Queens ahead in the 55th minute.
