Barely a month to the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Nigeria’s Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum has admitted that they are in a group of death.
The Nigerian side qualified for the games after edging rival the Bayana Bayana of South Africa 1-0 on aggregate in the final round of the qualifier.
While speaking to FIFA, the American gaffer praised the players for their efforts to return to the ancient games.
“Sixteen years without qualifying is a long time, and I’m extremely proud of the girls,” beamed the seasoned coach moments after seeing his side clinch their place at the Paris Games.
“With the field being small in the Olympics, every team is a top team. And if you look at our group, again – like at the World Cup – it’s the group of death, so to speak”, he said.
Falcons last appearance at Olympics was in Beijing 2008.
