World Soccer governing body FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Senegalese Football Federation for not having sent a player with Aliou Cissé to a press conference on the eve of the match against Ecuador.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has opened an investigation for potential breaches of Article 44 of the World Cup regulations. Indeed this Monday, on the eve of facing Ecuador on behalf of the third last meeting of the group stage.
Cissé appeared at a press conference alone without a player next to him.
This is a clear violation of Article 2.7.2 of the World Cup regulations relating to Media and Marketing but also of Article 8.5.3 of the Team Regulations.
As a reminder before the Lions’ first match against the Netherlands, Aliou Cissé was accompanied by Krépin Diatta then Kalidou Koulibaly in a pre-match press conference against Qatar.
This Monday before facing Ecuador, the coach of Senegal appeared alone in front of the journalists.
