A few hours into the first semi-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the World soccer governing body has unveiled a new ball to be used.
Al Rihla was the ball that has been in use since the commencement of the competition but Adidas the manufacturer decided to introduce another ball.
The new ball introduced is called Al Hilm and will be used for the remaining games in the tournament.
Al Hilm has a fitting look for the 2022 World Cup final – it combines a gold base with maroon details. Officially, the paint job is Gold Metallic / Maroon / Collegiate Burgundy.
It is not the first time that an Adidas World Cup final ball is already used in the semi-finals. In the 2018 World Cup, the Adidas Telstar 18 ‘Mechta’ final ball was used in all knockout stages.
Croatia will face Argentina in the first semi-final on Tuesday evening while defending champions France will tackle Morocco on Wednesday.
