The Atlas Lions of Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has opened up on the reasons his team lost to the defending champions Les Bleus of France.
The former African champions suffered a 2-0 defeat to the World champions in the semi-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Moroccans entered the game with high hopes after defeating football superpowers like Belgium, Spain and Portugal.
Former Wydad Casablanca manager attributed the defeat to the injury that ravaged the team before the game.
” We gave the maximum, that’s the most important thing, we had a few injuries, we lost Aguerd in the warm-up, Saïss, Mazraoui at half-time Against a team like France, the slightest mistake is paid for in cash.
We cannot go to the final with the waste of the first period, it was much better in the second half, even if the second goal kills us. It doesn’t take away everything we gave before”, he said.
