England coach Sarina Weigman has revealed how they were able to defeat a well-organized Nigeria’s Super Falcons team.
The European champions defeated Falcons 4-2 on penalties to reach the quarter-final of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The German gaffer agreed that the Nigerians are very good and organized, especially in their transition.
” The win says so much about this team, like I just said I am so proud of them. Not one game has been easy and we knew, before this game that it wasn’t going to be an easy game.
“They are very organized and very transitional, they’re very physical and athletic, and that’s exactly what we saw. We made it through, I’m really happy.”
“It’s amazing, anything that’s thrown at us, we show what we’re capable of.
“We dig deep. We dig deep as a group and we believe in our ability, and first and foremost, we believe in what we’re told to do.
“This team is special. We did it in the Euros, we did it in the Finalissima, and we’re here again tonight and doing it.
“We keep pushing forward. There’s more to come from this special team”, she stated.
