The Confederation of African Football ( CAF) has confirmed that countries bidding to host the 2025 and 2027 African Cup of Nations will know their fate later in the month.
The football body held its executive committee meeting virtually on Thursday and some key decisions were taken.
Nigeria is among the countries bidding to host the biennial competition and they will hope to fend off opposition from Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, and others.
CAF through its president Patrice Motsepe said the host country will be announced on the 27th of September.
” We will be meeting again in Cairo on Wednesday 27 September 2023 to discuss and take decisions relating to the countries that will be awarded the AFCON 2025 and the AFCON 2027″, he confirmed.
The next African Cup of Nations will be held in Ivory Coast in January 2024.
