“The Gypsy King” took to social media on Monday to announce that he is moving away from the matchup after a 5 p.m. Monday deadline to sign a contract came and went. Tyson Fury set the deadline on Friday, and said he would be moving on to other options for his next fight.
“Well guys, it’s official. D-day has come and gone,” Fury (32-0-1, 23 knockouts) said in an Instagram video on Monday.
“It’s officially over for Joshua. He is now out in the cold with the wolf pack. Forget about it.”
Recall Fury had challenged Joshua earlier this month, saying he’s ready come out of retirement to defend his title in December, which Joshua accepted.
Fury went on to run down his compatriot, calling the former two-time unified heavyweight titleholder an “idiot, coward, shithouse … and a body builder.”
