Brazil star Neymar took to his social media accounts to congratulate his longtime friend Lionel Messi following Argentina’s World Cup win in Qatar. Messi led his side to their first World Cup trophy since 1986 with an entertaining game at the Lusail Stadium.
It was a game that lived up to its billing, with Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and Messi bringing their A-game to the party. Messi scored twice while Mbappe grabbed a hattrick to force the game to penalty shootouts where Emi Martinez starred with one save.
Neymar congratulated Messi with one short message of ‘Congrats, Brother.’ Fans quickly note that he did not write a condoling message for Mbappe, who, despite his heroics, was on the losing side on the night.
It should be remembered that Neymar and Mbappe had some alleged ego wars in Paris at the start of the season. The two stars were said not to see eye to eye, with Mbappe reportedly advocating for Neymar’s sale.
