Jokic’s triple double not enough for the Nuggets as they lost their second straight game.
PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS 119-120 PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
Joel Embiid’s fadeaway 15-foot jump shot with 1.5 seconds left powered the Philadelphia 76ers past the Portland Trail Blazers.
That shot was the only lead of the game for the Sixers who rallied from 21 points down.
They have now further strengthened their hold on the third place just behind the Bucks and the Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
The big man, Embiid scored 39 points and James Harden added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the Sixers as they got their fourth win in a row.
For the Blazers, Anfernee Simons who just returned from an ankle injury scored 34 points, including eight 3-pointers.
Jerami Grant added 24 points and 10 rebounds and Damian Lillard scored 22 points, 11 assists and 6 rebounds. Cam Reddish scored 14 points and Jusuf Nurkic had 11 points.
TORONTO RAPTORS 112-122 LOS ANGELES LAKERS
D’Angelo Russell was the star man of the night after returning from a six-game absence to score 28 points for the Los Angeles Lakers earning them a victory over the visiting Toronto Raptors.
Dennis Schroder also scored 23 points for the purple and gold. Austin Reaves scored 18 points while Jarred Vanderbilt and Rui Hachimura added 16 points each as the Lakers improved to 4-2 since their star forward LeBronJames went down with a foot tendon injury.
The victory means the Lakers have now won seven of their last nine games to move into a play-in tournament spot in the Western Conference.
For the Raptors, Scottie Barnes scored 32 points and O.G. Anunoby had 31 as the Raptors ended their five-game road trip with a poor 1-4 record.
However, the Raptors will play seven of their next eight games at home in Toronto as they look to cling to a play-in tournament spot in the Eastern Conference.
CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 115-119 MIAMI HEAT
Jimmy Butler scored 33 points to help the Miami Heat defeat the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers.
Butler shot 12 of 16 from the field while Tyler Herro scored 5 of 7 3-pointers finishing the game with 25 points for Heat, who rallied from a 14-point deficit in the third quarter to earn a split of the two-game series in south Florida.
Bam Adebayo who has scored in an impressive double figures in all 63 of his games played this season for the Heat posted 19 points.
For the Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell finished with 42 points in 42 minutes. That was his 9th game of at least 40 points this season for the Cavaliers.
Darius Garland, who led Cavaliers with 25 points in a 104-100 win over the Heat on Wednesday, missed the game with a thigh contusion.
BROOKLYN NETS 124-123 MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
Dorian Finney-Smith scored a tie-breaking 3-pointer in overtime with 36.8 seconds left to earn the visiting Brooklyn Nets a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis.
In-form Mikal Bridges scored 34 points and hit the tying 3-pointer with 1:18 left in overtime as he scored another 30 points for the sixth time since being traded in last month from the Phoenix Suns in place of Kevin Durant.
Spencer Dinwiddie also added 29 points and 11 assists as Brooklyn won their fourth game in their last five games.
For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards scored 32 points. Rudy Gobert added 26 points and 13 rebounds but also missed four crucial free throws in the fourth.
The Timberwolves have now lost their second straight game despite shooting 57.4 percent in the first half.
DENVER NUGGETS 120-128 SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Keldon Johnson, the saviour with his 23 points for the host as San Antonio Spurs upset the Western Conference-leading Denver Nuggets with a 128-120 victory.
The Spurs who ended a two-game losing streak were leading with five points heading into the final period and a 3-pointer by Mamukelashvili with 2:33s to left on the clock extended the scoreline to 123-116.
Doug McDermott added 20 points, Jeremy Sochan scored 19 points, and the recently acquired Sandro Mamukelashvili scored all 11 of his points in the fourth quarter for the Spurs.
Reigning MVP, Nikola Jokic led all scorers for the night with another triple double of 37 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists – his NBA-leading 26th triple-double of the season. Jamal Murray added 24 points for Denver, who have now lost their second straight game.
The loss was also the first time the Nuggets have lost this year when Jokic had a triple-double.
ATLANTA HAWKS 114-107 WASHINGTON WIZARDS
Trae Young’s scored 28 points with a 3-pointer with 1:17 left helping the Atlanta Hawks defeating the Washington Wizards.
Young scored 6 of 10 from beyond the arc for the Atlanta Hawks from long range. He also had a game high 9 assists.
Bogdan Bogdanovic finished with 15 points off the bench scoring 4 of 8 from behind the arc. De’Andre Hunter scored 18 points and Dejounte Murray scored 16 points and 7 assists.
For the Wizards, Bradley Beal scored a team-high 27 points, and Porzingis had 22 points and a team-high 9 rebounds. Kyle Kuzma added 17 points.
