It was a good start for Nigeria’s representative Rivers Hoopers in the opening game of the Sahara Conference of the 2024 African Basketball League in Dakar.
They played against the host AS Douanes on Saturday evening and succeeded in securing a vital win.
Douanes started the game strongly to earn a first-quarter win 29-18 but the Nigerian side recovered a bit in the second quarter to secure the second quarter 37-39.
Hoopers took over the game in the 3rd quarter dominated the host and eventually widened the gap to a 46-54 win.
Douanes showed an improved performance in the final quarter but it was too late as Hoopers earned a narrow 77-68 victory.
The Nigerian side will confront APR in the next game while Douanes will face US Monastir.
