They sneaked into the round of 16 as one of the best losers and edged out Senegal in the round of 16.
They faced Mali in a keenly contested game and pulled through after extra time.
Doegele Nene put Mali ahead in the 71st minute but Simon Adingra levelled up toward the end of the game.
Oumar Diakite stole the show in the extra time by netting the winning goal and handed the 10-man host a ticket to the semi-final.
They will play DR Congo in the semi-final on Wednesday.
