Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi continued his fine form in front of goal as he scored the only goal for Nottingham Forest in their 1-0 win over Arsenal in matchday 37 of the Premier League played at the City ground on Saturday evening.
Awoniyi got his goal in the 19th minute following a careless play in the midfield from Arsenal. After the away side lost the ball, Morgan Gibbs-White picked up the Nigerian forward with a killer pass and he made no mistake to bury the ball behind the back of the net
The 25-year-old couldn’t double his tally like he has done in previous weeks as Nottingham Forest defended doggedly to protect their only goal.
He was replaced in the 79th minute by Brennan Johnson.
The former Union Berlin striker has played a vital role for Nottingham Forest in recent weeks in their battle to survive the drop.
He netted two goals against Southampton a fortnight ago and bagged another brace against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week to rescue a point for his side.
Awoniyi has now netted 9 goals in 26 Premier League appearances, which is the most of any Nottingham Forest Player.
He has also hit double digits for goals scored for Steve Coopers’ side having netted 10 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
The win leaves Nottingham Forest in 16th position with 37 points after 37 games, six points adrift of a relegation spot.
