BBC Match of the day announced on Friday that Popular pundit Gary Lineker will be suspended for liking a tweet that involved the language used in introducing the government’s controversial illegal migration bill to that of 1930s Germany.
Many of his colleagues like Ian Wright, Alan Shearer, Alex Scott, and Micah Richards stood in solidarity to support him by boycotting the show as the show had no host or even analysis and commentary, they just showed matches and highlights.
Managers and players were not interviewed by match of the day after the match.
BBC Match of the day already had a record of 2.63 million people tuning in before November 3 of 2022
But BBC Match of the day was able to pull more crowd than last week as they had an increase in views this weekend, match of the day garnered over 500,000 taking their views from 2.09 million viewers last week to 2.58 million viewers this week.
The BBC aired a short highlights package from 10:20 pm on Saturday.
Although BBC Match of the day had an increase in views, fans were left unhappy by the setback of the show, while some fans preferred BBC Match of the day without the presenters.
