Serie A champions Napoli has appointed former manager Walter Mazzarri to take charge of the team till the end of the season following the sacking of Frenchman Rudi Garcia on Tuesday.
The Serie A champions have failed to replicate the performance of last season that saw them win their first Scudetto title in 33 years. They currently sit fourth in the league 10 points behind rivals Inter Milan.
The team suffered an embarrassing home defeat to Empoli in Garcia’s last game in charge, a defeat that didn’t go down well with the fans of the club.
Walter Mazzari, 64, is set for his second stint at the club after he took charge of Napoli in 2009 and led the team to the 2012 Coppa-Italia title before leaving the club at the end of the 2012/2013 season
His last job was at Cagliari where he was fired in May 2022
