The coach of the German Bundesliga II side St Pauli Fabian Hurzeller has explained the reason they gave Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder Afeez Aremu a contract extension.
The club on Friday afternoon announced a new long-time deal for the former Akwa United player.
“Afeez is one of the best tacklers in our squad. His defensive qualities were obvious from the start, but he also improved when playing with the ball.
We also see further potential in him in this area, also because he is very willing to develop further. That’s why I’m very pleased that he will continue on his path with us”, the coach said.
Aremu has played a total of 48 second-division and five cup games for FC St. Pauli.
