As the first leg of the confederation cup quarter-final is fast approaching, the technical adviser of Rivers United Stanley Eguma has confirmed that they are not relying on their past achievement against the Young Africans of Tanzania.
The Pride of Rivers edged the Tanzanian side 2 years ago when they met in the qualifying round of the champions league but Eguma is saying that they are relying on that.
” We are not relying on past performance, no two games are the same.
I understand that the Yanga SC has rebuilt its team and they are doing well this time around in the domestic league they also top their group in the confederation cup.
We are not looking at what we achieved from them the last time, we are trying to push ourselves more than our capacity.
It’s not like before, we are coming with a new mentality and approach”, he said.
The first leg is slated to hold in Nigeria this weekend with the leg fixed for Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania.
