Ahead of the first leg game of the Confederation Cup against the Libyan side Al Khader, the head coach of Plateau United Fidelis Illechukwu has said their exit from the champions league still hurts them but recognized the importance of the game.
The Nigeria representative controversially lost the champions league to the Tunisian side Esperance in the second leg in Rades.
They dropped to the playoffs round of the confederation cup and they have been drawn against Al Khader.
While speaking ahead of the game former MFM FC boss lamented their exit from the champions league but remain focused on the second-tier tournament
“We know the importance of this game and we also understand the reason why we did not make it to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Is very painful for us, but we have put that behind us to enable face the future which is this game”, he said.
The game against the Libyan club is slated for this Wednesday at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.
