The skipper of Rivers United Nyima Nwagua has confirmed that their target is to surpass their previous record.
The Pride of Rivers crashed out at the quarter-final of the competition last season losing out to Yanga Sports of Tanzania.
The draws for this year’s competition were held on Friday and the Nigerian side was placed in group C alongside Club Africain, Dream FC and APC Lobito.
While reacting to the draw, former Kano Pillars forward made it clear that they are going to underrate any team in the group.
” It’s a good group for us and we are not going to underrate anybody.
We can not write off any team because everyone wants to go further.
We at Rivers United are very focused and our target now is how we get past our previous record.
The team is working hard now to see how we are going to qualify for the group”, he said.
