Nigeria Women Football League champion Delta Queens played their toughest game in the ongoing WAFU B CAF Champions League playoff on Monday when they faced Athletico FC in the Semi-Final.
The Nigerian side has been having the competition relatively easy with 2 massive victories at the group stage against USFA and Sam Nelly.
They confronted Athletico in the semi-final at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium and had to rely on extra time before they could secure a 3-2 win.
Melissa Behina put the Ivorian in front in the 5th minute before Mercy Okonkwo equalized for Delta Queens in the 68th minute.
The game went straight into extra time after both teams could not be separated after 90 minutes.
Okonkwo netted her second game of the game in the 98th minute before Taiwo Afolabi made it 3-1 for Nigerians.
Joy Sunday reduced the deficit for Athletico in the 114th minute as the game ended 3-2 in favour of the Nigeria league champions Delta Queens.
