The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon suffered an opening-day loss in Group G at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar after falling to a 1-nil loss to Switzerland.
The loss would be deemed painful for the Cameroonians because for them to qualify from a group that also contains Brazil and Serbia, they would have expected themselves to be more decisive in front of the goal. After creating chances, the players failed to put the back in the back of the net in the early stages of the game.
As soon as the Swiss players settled into the game, Cameroon’s André Onana became the busier of the goalkeepers but his defense was cut open when Cameroon-born Breel Embolo scored the solitary goal of the game in the 48th minute.
Cameroon will be seeking redemption in their next group game when they face Serbia on the 28th of November because a loss will see them crashing out before their final group game against Brazil.
