Following his outstanding performance in the ongoing season, Nigeria’s Super Eagles eligible player Chuba Akpom has emerged as the English championship player of the month.
Boro’s top scorer saw off competition from Iliman Ndiaye (Sheffield United), Alex Palmer (West Bromwich Albion) and Joel Piroe (Swansea City) to claim the award.
Akpom hit the net four times in December, including an excellent hat-trick against Wigan Athletic at the Riverside on Boxing Day.
With a total of 13, the 27-year-old striker currently leads the way in the Championship’s scoring charts.
The prize is further recognition for Akpom, who was named PFA Player of the Month in November and has been nominated for the same award in December.
