In order to establish a better –packaged, structured and more Developed Nigeria Professional Football League that will produce a more beneficial football economy for all stakeholders, the club owners of elite league held a crucial Meeting with the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau on Monday 18th October 2022.
In attendance were 13 of the club owners, with former Nigeria Football supremo Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima representing Kano Pillars and Nasarawa United boss, Barr. Isaac Danladi on seat as Chairman of the club owners.
During the meeting ,the Club Owners congratulated the new NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and Members of his Board and pledged total support to the Board for a better league Structure.
The Club Owners collectively agreed that the NPFL has suffered serious problems in the past six years and identified the following areas as the the major challenges over the years:
- Lack of Sponsorship
- No TV Broadcast
- Poor Officiating
- Insufficient Funding
- Lack of Match Integrity
- Poor remuneration of match officials and huge indebtedness in this area
- Matches won on the basis of Highest Bidder
- Poor Infrastructure
- Incompetent Administrators
- No prize money for winners and/or failure to honour same, et cetera
The club owners meanwhile charged the New NFF president to critically look into the aforementioned areas and restructure the NPFL in line with international best practices.
