Nigeria Premier Football League side Rivers United has one foot in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup after getting a positive result against Etoile Filante.
The Burkina Faso club set up a clash with Rivers United after they defeated Casa of Senegal in the first preliminary round.
The game was held in Yammoussokro in Abidjan after Etoile Filante’s home ground in Burkina Faso failed to get CAF approval.
The game which was keenly contested was played on Sunday evening and all efforts of both teams trying to outwit one another proved abortive as the game ended goalless
The Pride of Rivers will host the second leg in Port Harcourt in a fortnight and required a total victory to seal their place in the group stage.
