In the latest World Club Rankings, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian team, Al-Nassr, is positioned far ahead of Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami.
Lionel Messi, the 2022 World Cup victor, made a move to the Florida franchise during the summer transfer window and has already guided them to victory in the Leagues Cup.
Messi and his Portuguese counterpart, Ronaldo, both possess a remarkable 12 Ballon d’Or awards, with Messi having secured seven already and anticipated to win his record-extending eighth this year.
Despite a challenging start to the new Saudi Pro League season, Al-Nassr has a higher ranking than Inter Miami. Al-Nassr, also known as the Knights of Najd, stands as the 163rd-best club, climbing 21 spots, whereas Messi’s Inter Miami tumbled 157 places to claim the 1,538th spot, as per Football Database.
At the summit of the rankings are reigning European champions, Manchester City, followed by Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Napoli ascended eight spots to occupy fourth place, with Inter Milan taking the fifth spot.
Liverpool, Arsenal, FC Porto, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid round out the top ten in that order. Manchester United is in the 17th position, while Chelsea stands at 74th. The Saudi Pro League’s ascent has prompted comparisons to MLS, while Messi’s ongoing brilliance continues to captivate audiences globally, contributing to the rise of the Saudi league due to the exodus of European stars to the Middle East.
