Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids Football Club has announced forming of a Women’s football team.
This development was made public on Wednesday through the team’s social media pages.
Pyramids FC was established in 2008 by Al Assiouty Sport.
It took the club 14 years after its creation to concoct provisions for a female team in the Club.
The men’s team finished second in the Egyptian Premier League last season (2021/2022) and got to the final of the 2018/2019 Egypt Cup.
Pyramids FC also reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2019/2020 season, where they were the beaten finalists losing to RS Berkane by a lone goal.
The women’s team is expected to follow the form of its men’s counterparts and will have to battle with Champions Wadi Degla to pick a continental ticket.
This can be done if the team can win the league title, qualifying it for the UNAF (North Africa) Zonal Qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
