He made his foray into the Ekiti Football Ecosystem relatively young and outlandish to many, however, Pelumi Abiara will now exit his roles as the Secretary of Ekiti State Football Association and Chief Operating Officer of Bet9ja Ekiti Football League with his head held up high after playing distinguished parts in the numerous epochal landmarks of the Bayo Olanlege led Executive Committee of the association.
With almost two years into his time as the scribe of the Ekiti FA, Abiara has submitted his resignation letter to the Chairman of the body and will come into effect on Sunday May 28th, 2023.
According to the letter, Ekiti FA media can confirm that he is exiting the roles to pursue other goals while expressing deep appreciation to the association for the opportunity to serve.
In a letter dated April 24th, 2023 addressed to the Ekiti FA Chairman, Pelz, as he is fondly called, was quoted saying “I have greatly enjoyed and appreciated the opportunities I’ve had to bring my talent to positive use in the development of other Ekiti youths with the game of football. Not least is the great and tremendous leadership skills and capacity that the association built in me, all of which I will take with me throughout my career.”
“The decision to resign is to enable me to grow further, particularly with all I have learnt for the benefit of humanity. I’ll do everything possible to wrap up my duties and assist other members during the transition while I will be willing to contribute my quota when called upon to serve in the foreseeable future.” the broadcast journalist submitted.
Recall that he was appointed Assistant Secretary in June 2021 and subsequently elevated to the main role later that year. Pelumi Abiara is credited with promoting a positive disposition for the general outlook and perception of the position within and outside the football ecosystem, also making the association and the league more attractive to contemporary youths.
During his tenure, Abiara obtained the Sports Business Management certification from the prestigious Lagos Business School and was part of the inaugural Sports Impact Africa conference, among others.
